Let me start off by saying - trying to be succinct with a digital camera review is difficult. There are so many features and functions available that one could easily type a novel without trying. That said, I will do my best.
The Sony Cybershot H200 does a good job of giving the user enough control to get creative, without burdening them with too many technical details. This will either make the user happy that most of the guesswork is taken out of the equation, or leave them wanting more control than the camera can give them.

At a tad over 20 megapixels, the images the camera capture are clean when the ISO is set low. The dynamic range in the images is pretty good. There are plenty of settings to enable the user to capture some of the most popular types of images - in-focus foreground subjects with background that are blown out, landscape images, low-light scenes, images which focus on skin tone, and a number of other settings that can be set with a simple twist of the dial and a couple of clicks with the selector switch on the back.

Speaking of the back, the LCD is a nice touch. It's big and bright, and people should have no trouble seeing their way around the camera's menus thanks to it. The menus are intuitive, and there's even on-screen help that can assist you with everything from the basics to more advanced techniques.
The on-board flash is powerful enough to rescue scenes which are too dark, but unfortunately there is no hot shoe, so adding on to the camera with external flashes and accessories is a no-go. The grip on the unit is a little aggressive for my taste, but it's not to the point of being uncomfortable.

One of the things I found puzzling is that the camera has a manual mode. Traditionally this setting gives the user full control over aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and focus. Most of those are there, but curiously manually focusing the lens seems to not be one of these options. Being one of the key components for taking a picture, it's sorely missing.
Video capture seems to work adequately, and records at 720p. There is a connector for a mini-USB plug that supplies audio and video signal. Another drawback is there's no way to externally power the unit, nor is there a microphone input. You're stuck with what's on the camera when it comes to all of this.
I think for its price it's a great bargain, and should be especially attractive to new shooters.
